It's Cold In the South!

Everything about it!

Especially the snow.

Oh, the quietness of snow.

I'd frolic and prance, too. In fact, at my age I still 

join the grandbabies in making Snow Angels~

I have had intentions each year.

Autumn Love

 i love autumn and winter. love love love autumn and winter. my heart sings with the thoughts of sweaters, hot chocolate, cooler temps and her beautiful colors. not to mention the hopes of seeing a bit of snow in the southern South.

i also enjoy following those that love to decorate their homes. i get ideas and sometimes find myself wishing i had this house or that house, especially the cute tudor that blushingbean has on instagram! i digress

 a blog i've followed for years, and she's also on pinterest, (i need to see if she's on instagram), is stone gable. today she has a post she's shared before but i thought was good for reading today.  i think you'll enjoy it as i for not only will you see her home but you'll see yours in a different light, a better light, upon finishing her article. we have so much to be thankful for ~

I'm Just a Winter Loving Lady

Praying your wintery days are blessed ~

Autumn Is Still UP?!?!

Yes, Autumn is still up in our household. Horrors!! That's only happened one other time, and we like to forget that December. However, we have been busy with various things you care nothing about, that with my memory I'd have to go get my calendar to fill you in. Yeah, that kind of crazy busy.

And I had to, HAD TO, finish painting the hall. The back hall that I've been working on since, well, since last Autumn. I think. Pretty sure. So I was determined not to put up Autumn and pull out her Christmas dress until that hall was painted! And trimmed! Trimmed twice, as a matter of fact. I had no idea how marked up doors, facings, and baseboards get marked up! Man!

I would post pictures to prove to you, but they're the same ones you have already seen {Rolling Eyes font} like in, September, maybe?!?! But I CAN show you some ideas I plan to implement next week! Because I plan to finish painting the hall this weekend! Drag out the HuGe container that holds Autumn and clean the house. Then, I can begin unpacking closets and boxes and containers and make the Hood go up in the attic for the greenery and wreaths. Aaaaaah, makes me happy just thinking about it.

Oh, and this year I get to add the pieces I bought from Southern Born hand crafting!! You can find them by clicking on the name or going to septemberbornshop.etsy.com. We love the pieces we've purchased and he is making us a customized dining room table, so yes, I highly recommend them. I'll be sure to point what I purchased once this house is dressed in her finery. (Oh, I miss the icons. I could use a Christmas tree one right now!)

 I plan to try this for the buffet table in our breakfast room.

Already collecting the older bibles that have been passed

down and other small hymnals.

And I'm thinking this for the mantel.

Not the usual silk greenery I use or the ribbon,

but I love the natural look of it and it'll go

through Winter well.

A Week of Thanksgiving ~

we are truly thankful for God's gifts, mercy & grace

especially dessert and salad plates to compliment

the solid plates i've had over the years

i just never seem to have enough

enough room, that is, to store them!

and in downsizing i lost wonderful storage

so one has to get creative {wink font}

you never know where you'll find treasures

for the seasons and holidays around this house!

but i do {smiling font}

vignettes that are easy but gorgeous

wreaths that, well, i find buying them and embellishing

them is easier than beginning from scratch!

In Love With a Headboard

i'm in love with a headboard

i am still in love with the one the mister built

we chose not to put post tops

but i love the way it turned out.

until i saw the one with the old doors.

Hmmmmmm,

i think i need to talk to the mister

about using that idea in one of the guest rooms!

Do You Dream?

Oh, I do. And these types capture my heart. 

This would be my living room,

the room with a fire, a dog,

good books, glass of wine

and years of family & conversations. 

My dining room.

Soft, used, comfy, cozy.

Well loved. 

My kitchen.

Farm sink, open windows

soup simmering or cookies baking

Makes me smile each morning

pouring a cup of coffee

or hot chocolate 

My bedroom

wooden flooring, cozy rugs

tiny, just big enough for two 

Guest room

tiny, cozy, sink in the bed

and dream until you smell

breakfast cooking or

coffee brewing 

The bath.

just one, just enough, old wallpaper

window overlooking the yard

a yard of flowers, shrubs and swings

or, maybe 

this house.

and i get to start all over again.

i love to dream of cozy abodes.

Doors, Portals to Lives

Winter Home in Montana

Ah, yes. Julia, you've done it once more.

Given me a glimpse of a dream home

One I could live in so easily and enjoy each morning I awake.

The colors inside are soothing.

The details fascinating.

And that's just inside the house!

Can you imagine this view at breakfast? Or any meal!

I'm not a fan of banquets where one has to crawl out or in

but I wouldn't quibble if I had this view and a decorator

decided to design the area in this fashion. I'd just enjoy.

What really sold me was the nods to John Wayne and Roy Rogers. My two cowboy heroes. And look at the bunks at the end of this room?! It's not an easy task making up bunk beds. I know. I used to share them with a sister, but they didn't last long. It's really difficult to make up the top one and I can do without any extra tasks. But oh, aren't they adorable and so cozy. And there's more!!
