I Changed My Mind

I have some girlfriends, and a few male friends that flip off the high board if you change a plan. Say you had said 'yes' to a movie, but there's a great new shop downtown with an ice cream soda parlor across the street. You suggest it, and watch the teeth gritting begin. The frozen look becomes one with eyes that get larger and finally the mouth opens, "I THOUGHT we said we were going to see a movie."  "I know, but we can always catch it later! The weather is gorgeous to be window shoppiung downtown and having some homemade pie with ice cream!"

Normally, I lost those battles, figuring it wasn't worth the friendship to try and preach that life doesn't have to be planned and logical all the time. Or even half the time.

I was going to post tonight, but I'm tired. Big day. Big week. Big weekend ahead. And I'd like to watch some more reruns of Medium before I call it quits and go crawl in beside the man I love. He's been working some very long hours and he's weary. We both will be thankful when it ends. He's beginning to look like a zombie. I'm scared of zombies.

I digress.

Here's a video that makes me laugh each time I watch it, and yes, I know it's morbid. And okay, some of you won't laugh, but it makes me giggle out loud each time just because it's so absurd (and could actually happen!) Get a woman talking and she'll walk right into a man hole. Or in this case, an elevator shaft.

Go have a giggle filled day!

Can You Help?!

I saw these on Perfectly Imperfect and have gone online looking for this set! I want these for next Winter! Mr. H, I want these for next Winter! O daughter 'o mine, I want these for next Winter! I've already emailed Cracker Barrel for help. If anyone out there has these sweet dishes and you don't really care if they're in your home or not, email me please, I'd love to take them off your hands for a sweet price. I even typed in 'white snowflake dinnerware' on Google and nothing came even close to this. Forget eBay. Been there. I love Cracker Barrel dinnerware and plan to go tomorrow and get the Easter dinner plates. But for now? I want these white snowflake sets!! Four sets would be fine! Six would be even better! Eight? Wow.
And I forget who had this framed print {frustrated font} but I managed to find it on Google images. Only because someone had it on a blog. And didn't mention where one could find it. Darn! Don't do that to me. For some reason, this print speaks to me. The snow maybe? or the sweet bunnies? For whatever reason, if anyone out there as seen where one might buy this print or even a framed one, let me know.
Thank you ma'am/s {sweet smile font}.

Joining Wordful Wednesday! Hop over to Seven Clown Circus!

Still tryin'

Oh sweet friends, I am still recovering from a horrid urinary tract infection that has had me sicker than I think I've been in over four years. Along with allergic reactions to not one, but TWO of the prescribed medicines has left me fighting nightmares and hallucinations. Everything scary was ultra so, everything I feared tried to make its way into my mind and take up residence.  We have visited the ER twice this week :(  and are praying that I am now on the way to mending and healing. Thank you for your prayers but for now, and until I feel like me again, I will be on hiatus trying with all I have to get well.  I, truly, have not felt so sick, nor so soul sick, since waking up in ICU and learning of the devastation from that accident.

May all of you enjoy good health, beautiful fall days, laughter and giggles, and love to wrap you warmly ~

Ugh!

UPDATE: A doctor visit. Several tests. Lots of time spent napping on their examing room table. Three 'scripts and a warning that something was trying to work its way into my bloodstream and this could be 'not so good'. Ugh. And all this time I thought I was dying and noone knew it yet. Simple enough, but has to be gotten rid of quickly, sooooo some awesome pain meds, great nausea med, and a XXX strength antibiotic. Whether or not I get well at this point really doesn't matter {loopy font} as the other prescriptions have put me on a floating carpet and my head feels so good it's forgotten anything else didn't! 10.07.10

Just before worship ended Sunday, I became faint. Which was odd, as I got up feeling good. By the time I got home, it was all I could do to strip the clothing on the way to the bed. Called my sweet man to warn him, and did not wake up until he came in around 7 pm.  For the last two and a half days I've literally lived in the bed, getting out only to take Dramamine, refill the water glass, and take meds for a horrendous headache. Earlier this morning I was literally sore from being in the bed so much! But Hallelujah, today appears to be a much better day. Taking it slow, the appetite is still gone, but I am not in bed zonked out!

A Fall, A Nap, A Hospital Visit ~

Monday afternoon, I managed to slip/trip/fall down the stairs in our home. I was on my way down to take some laundry and ended up with most of it underneath me. A good thing, as when I came to I was lying in front of the halltree in our foyer. Looking at the floral arrangement and thinking, "Cccrap".  Have a small goose egg, that's still tender, and a few more bruises than I did Monday morning. A phone call to John let him know what had happened just in case, which was a good thing as I began throwing up less than two hours later and he came home. PriMed sent us to the local ER for CT scans as they weren't equipped. Our ER here in town was super nice, but by then I was foggy headed, loss of memory {as in couldn't remember my name} and thinking I was still teaching {worried about lesson plans for a sub}, and my head was beginning to really, really hurt. After scans, blood drawn, and other tests, they felt I needed a bit more than they could give so around midnight I was in an ambulance on my way into Montgomery! And I truly think they hit every bump in the road, bless their hearts. (There were a few trigger moments as the last time I'd been in an ambulance, I was recovering from ARDS and horribly ill.)

Montgomery South was a very nice experience, with the staff smiling and happy. The food was so much better than I expected, which was good, because The Hood was a bit rattled by another hospital visit and worried over me :(  I gave him most of my meals in exchange for some hamburgers and a coke. We were both asleep in my bed when the day shift nurse came to tell us I could go home. It did NOT take us long to get the IV's out, heart monitor disconnected, and my clothes on! The gown was not something I wanted to bring home, know what I mean?

Final diagnosis is a Grade 5 Concussion with Retrograde Amnesia, meaning I don't remember falling or some events prior to the fall. My family is pretty used to that, however, and just gives me another reason to get perferential treatment at home {giggling font}

Hospitals. Man, I'm glad we have them. And very thankful we have people who want to work in them!

Want Some Cheese With That Whine?

We used to use this phrase with our daughters as they grew up and would come whining about one thing or the other. It always made us laugh, and made them roll their eyes. But today, for just the length of time it takes you to read this I intend to whine about something that just gripes me to no end. And there's really nothing to do about it. ARGH!!
People who ride in the left hand lane and never move over! And that's where the SLOWER TRAFFIC IS SUPPOSED TO BE! You have to get over to the right just far enough to see if there's some reason they are staying in the left hand lane. You see there isn't a valid reason, so you pass them. ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE! And you are not supposed to do that. It's something that just makes me grind my teeth. But then, you're reading something written by someone that loves speed on an open highway. So to all those left hand lane riders out there ~ MOVE OVER TO THE RIGHT! Please.

Okay, I'm finished.

It's Broken!

Ach!!! The molar, that only got a filling two weeks ago,
has broken in half! Tonight! And I am not
feeling
very
peppy
at the moment!
In fact,
I'm a bit irritated,
a bit in pain,
becoming very frustrated,
aggravated,
and developing
a
very
very
nasty attitude.
And unless it becomes unbearable,
I'll see Dr. Holley first thing Monday morning.
Please pray for John.
He will have to contend with me until then.

Eastside Grill & Lunch!

We had to go into Montgomery this afternoon
and John decided to let me choose a spot for lunch~
If you haven't eaten here yet, you need to make plans.
They have outside tables and at night, there's a live band.
John chose the grilled chicken, garlic potatoes, and green beans~
I chose the blackened tilapia, garlic potatoes, and broccoli ~
although next time, I'll get the green beans. The broccoli
was a bit tough, but the tilapia was great!
I talked him into a snapshot before we left,
but a customer coming in caught my eye.
I am so ADD!

For those of you looking for dinner deals, O'Charley's is offering 2 meals for $14.99! Their entrees are not as extensive as Logan's but it makes for cheap dinner dates! However, it was O'Charley's where we had a problem Monday evening. When John and I got there we were told there wasn't a server for the table where the hostess wanted to place us, so we had to sit at the bar. WHAT?! There were empty tables all over the place! Jenny and Brandon got there about twenty minutes later, we had to ASK to be seated, and after another ten minutes noone had come to take drink orders or ask if they could help us. Now, understand, it was 5 pm and there were only TWO other couples that we could see and umpteen empty tables! We got up and left, crossed the road to Logan's where we were immediately seated and waited on. I told the hostess why we were leaving & she just shrugged. Guess they don't need the business ~

A Question ~

Like a lot of folks in this state, I had a job. I worked, they paid me. I paid my taxes, and the government distributed my taxes as it saw fit. In order to get that paycheck, I was required to pass a random urine test, with which I had no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who didn't, and don't, have to pass a urine test.

So here is my question ~ shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check, because we have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their rump -- doing drugs, while I work. Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check? I guess we could title that program, 'Urine or You're Out'.

Sunday began like this. I have blonde hair, but
I looked like this. And it hurt. I wanted this. Really bad.
My throat needed something cold.
But I settled for icy cokes
and this. Then another good shot
to go to sleep last night.
And this morning, I feel better.
But I still want some ice cream.

Hey! I've taken two of those lovely little pills called oxycodone and am feeling well enough to sit here. I hate whiners and the past two days have found me whining! Poor John.

One of my girlfriends came today bringing chicken noodle soup and commented, upon seeing me at the door, "you look horrible". That was all it took to get my head under the faucet, washed, dried and curled. A bit of make up, some time outside on the porch, some silliness from her and I began to feel as good as I did Saturday. Dr. Foxhall's nurse called this afternoon stressing to take it S-L-O-W. And I hate doing that.

But for the sake of taking care of his surgical work, and the sanity of John, I will. We were told, several times by the intern and enough by the surgeon, that there was some major problems encountered and he had to do more than he expected. He still isn't sure why the first surgery back in '06 went the way it did, but it's all patched up and fixed up now. I've lost several major muscle bands, but that gives me an excuse for the ab scrunches not working! {wink, wink}

For all of you that came, brought food, called, emailed, prayed, left comments, checked on Johnny and or Jenny, or in any way showed you cared about us, we thank you from the bottom of our heart. Know that I feel the same about you.

Okay, so I'm finding it painful to sit here any longer. Even with the pills. Have a great evening, hope you slept well, and that the morning dawns on a bright and beautiful Tuesday for us all~

this is johnny, Nancy is fine but in pain. Thank you for your prayers.

Bless his heart. He so hated doing this for me {smile, smile} but it does hurt and I have no interest in sitting here trying to find a comfortable spot. For now, just keep praying and I'll try and get back asap. Thanks for being there~

What, Pain? Nah

I.Hate.Pain.
and I am such a wiener
when it comes to hurting.
I don't do drama. I just don't do pain.
During the 77 day stay in ICU,
I received massive amounts of medication
for various things, among them
pain.
So with the upcoming surgery,
I've wondered if there is anything
that will cover the pain expected.
Any medication that will top the morphine,
that doesn't work anymore.
I've decided that I don't just want this
I want
THIS!!
Just pack it in the Bronco and bring it on home!
I'll let you know if I get my wish~

A Whiny Post

It's been a rather up and down kind of day, but I still feel the need to whine for just two minutes. I promise. I just got through checking on all my blogs on the left. And there were many that you have to print a non-real word in order to leave a comment. aarrgghh I hate those!! Pul-lease consider taking it off your site. I don't have it and I'm not bothered with spam.

I got halfway through the ones on the right before I just got tired of having to copy and recopy and recopy before having it accept my comment. You see, sometimes I have to do it several times before it says I've copied the correct letters and I KNOW they weren't ALL wrong. And I know I'm not the only one out there that hates these silly words. So, what do you do? Do you just not leave a comment? You leave a comment but secretly fume that there's a silly word at the bottom of the comment box?

If you must use them, then I guess you have your reasons. I had to whine and my two minutes is up.

On another note, I am so looking forward to lunch tomorrow! I need the fellowship and I need some fun!!! Leigh Graham and her sister came to the shoppe today and she's coming! Haley Gray is riding with me!! Kristy Busby and Melissa Lester will be there. I. Can't. Wait. We'll post pics for those that wanted to come and couldn't! And for those of you that didn't think it would be fun, well, you were. Wrong!
ha ha I wanted to have a 'big grin' after the word 'wrong' and when I googled big grin, this is what I found! Enjoy!!!

And This, My Friends,

is simply Part Two, as I'm not sure if we're finished with the story of the bad washer from Sears.

John went to Sears this morning. To make it brief, both he and the manager got a bit heated and had to take a minute. We were refunded our money. Yay, but Prattville Sears wants a 15% restocking fee. For a washer that doesn't work. Go figure. Apparently, Sears will refurbish it and resell it. If this had been the only thing we bought from them, I could understand paying for the seven weeks and five days we used it. BUT we purchased a big screen TV from them, a microwave, super nice double door fridge, elliptical, and a large outdoor grill (and all this within a two year span). I think they could cut some slack with a restocking fee. That's where John and the daily manager butted heads.

John's way of thinking is, 'hey look, we almost bought a set at Lowe's but since your store was ripped apart by the tornado in February we wanted to give you the business'. The manager is tied to the policies set forth by the owner. Hence, John wants to talk to someone about the fee and was given a toll free number to Customer Service. When he calls and complains, they say it's up to each individual store owner/manager as to whether or not a restocking fee is required. So, he mentions this to the manager and again, is told it's up to Sears. The classic game of Pass the Buck and Hope the Fool Gives Up. Have you grimaced and rolled your eyes yet? I have.

We had to pay $59 for them to come out and get the set, but paying them the 15% is still up in the air as far as The Hood is concerned. And I have to say, I agree with him on this one. The good news is, they will be out at 8 in the morning to get it out of our apartment!! The better news is,

after he left Sears, he drove to Lowe's and spent quite some time discussing brand names, etc. with two workers that impressed him with their knowledge of brands. Did a bit of research on Consumer.com (thank you, Lisa!) and bought me a washer and dryer tonight!! Also bought the pedestals that go under them so I don't have to lean so far to get into them! I'm so excited!! And Lowe's is delivering them tomorrow afternoon!!

So imagine me singing, "I'm washing clothes tomorrow, I'm washing clothes tomorrow, Nan Na Nan Na Boo Boo". And I have this huge grin plastered on my face. Okay, so it's not one of those real pretty colors they have now, it's your basic white but I'll sleep under clean sheets, dry with clean towels, and not be looking for lost clothing in a dumpster because the dirty clothes are in a trash bag waiting to see if the Laundromat is needed. Yes sir, this is one happy female. Here's a promo pic. I'll show you mine tomorrow night~

Oh, and if you've hadproblems with your washer/dryer PULEEASE leave me a comment and tell me what brand you have. We have thirty days to decide if we're keeping them. Heather, you left a comment about yours. What brand do you have??!! Johnny says if this front loader doesn't work out, he's putting me back with a top loader. (As if I really care. I just want one that works.)

No, No, Not MY Washer!!

Oh, NO!!! Not my washer. And dryer!! I wanted an image to go along with the next post, so I Googled images of a washing machine. I found one, which led to a blog, of a Sears washer and dryer like ours!! With 27 comments from others having the same problem!!! argh!!! I got on the phone, called Johnny, told him to go to Sears TOMORROW and have the Sears people come pick up this set!!! We're still within our 90 days grace period and I don't want a lifetime of problems!!! Not to mention, I don't know when a repairman will get here to fix this one. I'm thankful we're within our grace period. I'll keep you updated as to what transpires tomorrow!!

Oh, and here's the sweet looking culprit.

and here's the panel that apparently leads to the control panel that will need replacing. And it's not even two months old. Yuck, double yuck.

I don't think the next set will come from Sears~

Same View, Different Truck

So, this is what greeted me a few days ago, before Faye blew in and blew off all the aftermath that repaving brings upon poor unsuspecting automobiles. I opened our front door to find this lovely parked in our driveway. This shot was taken at our threshhold!! I had to laugh out loud, but not as loud as I did when I saw ~

this snapshot of Ian that Jenny took. The child loves pirates and his Nana gave him a new pirate outfit. Here's he is 'dancing a jig' for his mom. I am so totally in love with these grandbabies. BUT, I still laughed harder when I saw ~

this shot of Noah in his pirate bandana with attached dreadlocks! I think the paci tops it all off, don't you? I personally think God sent us children to remind us how to laugh, giggle, and enjoy the lighter moments of life.
Mentioning children, Teale and Chad are expecting a little girl soon!! We are all praying for and happily awaiting Harper's arrival. The best years of this couples life has begun~
Okay, so here's a "Johnny Funny". Tonight I noticed a bag of laundry I had bagged and set by the washer (which is broken!!!) was NOT where I left it. I asked John about it and he replied, "I thought it was trash!" Now, I had set out the bags of trash, along with telling him to get the one OUT of the trashcan. He got all of those, along with the extra one there. At 10 PM tonight, we were out at the dumpster looking for a white trash bag of clothing. Do you have any idea how many families use white trash bags!!
It was so funny to me that I started giggling as we walked across the parking lot. Then, realizing how insane we looked groping around other people's trash, I really got the giggles. The more I giggled, the meaner the looks got from Johnny. We did find the bag, got the clothes back, and John had to laugh with me as we made our way back across the parking lot.
The washing machine? Yeah, it quit on me Sunday afternoon. We bought a new front loader and apparently you can't just punch the Stop button, then the Start button. By doing so, you mess up the electrical system and the suggestions the Support tech offered didn't work. argh!!! So now, I have to have a repairman out to reset the machine.
It could be worse, I could be twenty years older and not able to deal with calling the Sears Customer Service, punching one for English, punching three for repairs, punching my phone number, punching four for Other, then one for Tech Support, listen to taped music for three minutes, only to be disconnected. This scenario happened twice. Twice, I said!! On the third time, and I was still breathing deep, praying, and speaking nicely, I was able to complete the call only to be told it would be September 3rd before a serviceman could be scheduled.
What?! Sears has so many service calls I have to wait a week to see someone?! Maybe we shouldn't have bought Kenmore after all. The tech did say he would turn it in as an emergency and someone would contact us within 24 hours to tell us we would be worked in this week. He promised they would call.
Not.
(to be cont'd.)

Second Post of the Night

Can I whine for two minutes? Okay, just give me a minute. I'll make it quick. I hate hate hate, can I say I hate?! when I type a post, get it juuuussstt right only to hit the publish button and have the post NOT be what I wanted it to be. I'm having an issue with Blogger not putting space between paragraphs. I put it there during the creating and editing stages, so why isn't it there for the final post? Anyone out there having this same issue and if so, did you find an answer?

UPDATE! See??!! I just published the above and notice that there is more space between the lines than there is on the next post! aarrgh And NOW there is a space between the paragraphs! Why can't I do that on posts with snapshots?!
