America has much to be thankful for. Our families have much to be thankful for. And I bet if you look around you, you do, too ~ Have a blessed week and a great week. Before you know it, Christmas and Winter will be upon us. And I will be one happy lady! God bless us and God bless America ~

Still One of My Favorites
This post remains to be a favorite post with readers and with me. I love the movie and love the information you can find searching for the baseball players. The doctor is even based on an actual character. Here's the link to read it for your pleasure and enjoyment! Click HERE.
Celebrating the last few weeks of Summer.
Teachers are reporting in, families stocked up on clothing and supplies are trying to get in one last chance to take a mini vacation before the business of classes begin. Mothers, like me, put on a smile while my heart weeps because I won't have the children at home any longer. I was never one that did somersaults when the buses rolled up but laughed at the antics of friends that did {giggle font}. As a teacher, it was a delightful time to meet new little ones and also be near our daughters as they attended classes. I was blessed with a career I loved and enjoyed. To also work with some of your best friends was an added blessing.
How are you celebrating these last few weeks?!?! AND, are you one of the many that have decided to homeschool this year?! With dedication and planning, I'm a supporter of those wishing to make sure their children are learning not only basic, needed skills, but also able to work in field trips, extra studies, and bible lessons that public schools either cannot or find it difficult with the financial strain. I am not a supporter of CORE and would love to see it taken off the lesson plans in Alabama. Getting the answer right, but missing the problem because the steps were wrong doesn't make sense to me. Seriously. Look at past generations and the technology that has hit the world! And we did it without CORE. Okay, I'll get off that bandstand {wink font}.
Summer is a'goin' and Autumn she is approaching. I am SO an Autumn and Winter gal and shed no tears as Summer eases out. As your family gets ready for another school year or you watch your grandbabies step up into another grade, I'll be praying for us. For courage to face the fact they're growing much too quickly, peace and calm as we settle into football Saturdays and cooler temps, and that God will show great might in allowing America to have a President that will not take us into a Socialist state and a nation whose leaders refuse to acknowledge God. Prayers are needed more than ever for our nation and her leaders. God bless and keep us near Him as we draw closer to the November election. May He bless you and yours ~
America Needs You, God
we are bruised and battered
heart broken and incredibly sad
but we serve a God that is just and One of mercy
He has not forsaken us, rather wanting us
to turn to Him in fervent prayer
join me in praying that hearts will be changed for the good
that our leaders will look to Him instead of themselves
that we will not lose hope nor cease caring about each other
and that this nation i love will be great once more
"one nation, under God, indivisible,
with liberty and justice for all"
2 Chronicles 7:14
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV
"In the midst of our nation's struggles, crippling hurts and confusion, I lift our leaders (good and bad) to You in prayer for guidance and help. Grant us a Godly pulse beat, aligned with Your will and direction. Give us Christian leadership. Revive us spiritually. May we regain the standards we have so carelessly thrown away and once again become one nation under God.
Cleanse our sins and heal our land, I pray. Deliver us from drugs and violence. Help our people who love You to step forth and speak out for what is right. Help our schools, our teachers, our children to keep setting new goals, dreaming new dreams, and aiming high.
Wrap Your arms around our dear country's young people and dry their tears. Lead them toward a future that is good and true. Help us to go forth as a nation, to be an example to the world, by Your love and grace.
Most of all, Lord, may I do my best to help. May the love, kindness, and dedication begin within me.
In Jesus name, amen."
~ taken from 'When I'm On My Knees, Daily Devotional Journal by Anita Corrine Donihue, Nov 29'
I had to share this, dear readers, for it's what's been on my heart and I couldn't have said this better. Surely God inspired this Christian. I have used this devotional journal since last year and each day it becomes what I need to be reminded of. His way of letting me know how to pray, what to pray for, that He is near, in control, cares and will always fulfill His promises. I know today is not November 29 but I was going back thru pages I'd starred and His Spirit stopped me here. I pray it reaches your heart and soul as it has mine. Join me in continuing to pray for our country, our leaders and as Ms. Donihue said, let it begin with me. With us. God bless America.
How Do They Thank Them?
A post from 2012 ~
And a post from 2013 ~
How do we thank them? Are there words enough to express our heartfelt gratitude? There are ways to show them. Never walk by one without acknowledging them. Never. They exist. And because they do, we still do. Buy them a meal without letting them know. Just leave a 'thank you' at the register. Teach your babies they are to be appreciated and respected. Join with your congregation with the shoebox and Christmas boxes being sent to the deployed. Sign up with The Wounded Warriors or another group that actually helps those returning and needing help with physical, emotional and/or mental issues. PTSD is real. And that's not the most serious they suffer from or with. They have this household's prayers each day, several times a day. I'm proud of those that fought for our freedom from the British, the War of 1812, the Spanish War, the Civil War Between the States, in WWI and WWII with Germany and Nazi Germany. My father in the Korean Conflict against North Korea. Three nephews that proudly served in the Air Force, the Marines and one currently serving in the Navy. I'm very proud of them and pray for them so often and for their family as they await to hear a voice on the phone.
Nelson Mandela
"I always knew that deep down in every human heart, there is mercy and generosity. No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite."
Nelson Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom
Where Is the Justice?
Remember the terror. Remember the people-filled buildings. Planes.
Remember these four faces.
There has been no justice for them.
Sons. Brothers. Fathers.
Demand justice for them.
Remember them.

Some Thoughts Today
one never knows what another deals with
yet wears a smile to make others feel comfortable
nothing more to add.
glorious spring!
i'm loving it
and
only one more season
until fall and sec football!
my sweethearts
and yes, i agree to the below funny
do not take away my 2nd amendment
we have had a revolution in this country before
bahaha, have a giggle-filled week!
Let's Be Serious, Then I'll Be Funny
I have to tell you, our Congress and this President scare me. I would love to find grounds to impeach him and start over with, or maybe without, a Congress. We have compromised so much already on gun control. We need to feel safe. Schools need to be secure. The last several weeks all I've heard are hearings on gun control. What about funding education - hey, that's a new one! NOT! - and put security guards in schools. Restructure fronts doors to be security conscious. There's much that can be done to make a school and it's grounds more secure, but for that you need money. And guess what doesn't get much money in too many states in the Union? Education. Our children. We actually spend more money on the prisoners in the state of Alabama than we do on our school age children. That is sad. That is uncalled for. Guns aren't the problem. People are the problem. Secure a property and it deters unwanted intruders. That's my soapbox for tonight.
When I saw this, I knew it was me. I love to laugh. At anything. And when you go to someplace like a beach, a football game, Wally World, there are people. And there's always something to laugh at or about with people or animals. I love AFV!!! Those dummies! And yes, I laugh at me. In fact, I laugh the hardest then.
We have wonderful plans for the weekend. A baby shower for our newest grandchild! We shall finally celebrate Christmas with our daughters and their families! (We had the flu yuck and Jenny's family had ear infections etc, so we postponed) Having a shower on the same day makes for a fun-filled day. We'll finish it off at a favorite Mexican restaurant, the grands will get a whole day to play with each other (praying the weather lasts) and I'm hoping someone remembers to take lots of photos! I was made fun of not too many years ago for always having a camera handy. Now I forget {sniff font}. Here's hoping Stacey and Jenny have theirs! I pray you have a great, laughter filled weekend, yourself!
May God Bless ~
We Gather Together
We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing;
He chastens and hastens his will to make known;
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing,
Sing praises to his name: He forgets not his own.
Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, wast at our side, All glory be thine!
We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant,
And pray that thou still our defender wilt be.
Let thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!
Amen

Veterans Day 2012
I am honored to be a descendant of a long history of servicemen. My paternal g'mother was a genealogist and traced our ancestors back to their European homes. What I'm most proud of, however, is the fact that from the Revolutionary War all the way to the ending of the Korean Conflict, I have had great great ... grandfathers and a father that served for our country. My brothers were much too young for the Vietnam Conflict and the draft had ended by the time they graduated. However, I have two nephews that served. One with the United States Marines and another with the United States Air Force. I am so proud of these men, and for all our servicemen and women who sacrificed to keep America free from tyranny. May God bless you and God bless America ~
Bits & Pieces of Today
We got this today and I smiled.
Sweet Alaina dressed for Farm Day.
I remember the day she was born.
Our first granddaughter.
That feeling still has my heart.
The I clicked over to Jen's page and saw this.
My heart won't accept it! They're grown up!
We were there for their births, &
for a time Noah had the most beautiful curls.
He still does, but they are shorter and he's taller!
I know our children grow up & that grabs the heart.
When grandchildren begin growing up, hold on.
Your heartstrings aren't going to want to let go.

And for something totally different. The debate.
And for something totally different. The debate.
Last night between the VP's.
First, Biden acted rude and disrespectful, then
First, Biden acted rude and disrespectful, then
I was appalled, shocked, and felt that the mediator
appeared to break every rule she was to abide by.
Then I read this, posted by a student I still love,
Mandie Granger Barrett. And I love her for it.
"When a wise man argues with a foolish man,
the fool only gets angry or laughs,
and there is no peace and quiet."
Proverbs 29:9 NLV
Have a Blessed 4th of July ~
"O say can you see by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner, O! long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country, should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave,
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
O thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation.
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the Heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!"

Sacrifices, Reunions
I realize that what I am about to share is a bit off the cuff but they grabbed my heart, and I know when one heart is touched, there are others that will also be touched. Our dear Lord doesn't touch just one, without putting the desire to share.
This first is a well written article of the sacrifice our police officers and other deserving workers make to give us a safer place. Firefighters, animal control employees (yeah, I watch those shows where they get animals with sharp fangs and teeth out of houses and yards!) and other service workers leave each day wondering what they will see during their work hours. Here's to you, Heath Taylor and Ted Hughes. William Oates and Tim Huggins. Just a few, for there are thousands of you.
"Oh, are you a cop? That's cool. I wanted to do that when I was a kid. What do you make?"
"I make holding your hand seem like the biggest thing in the world when someone just tried to hurt you. I make five minutes seem like a lifetime, when I am fighting a suspect, while waiting for backup. I make those annoying sirens seem like angels, when you need them. I can make your children breathe, when they stop. I make myself get out of bed at 6 am or 11 pm, to risk my life to save people I've never met. I make it possible to keep back the chaos everyday. I make going to work for your family's safety a DUTY that I will die for. I make myself work holidays, nights during rainstorms and snow storms and other disasters. Today I might make the ultimate sacrifice to save your life. I make a difference. What do YOU make?"
The next is a loving thought expressed by a friend of ours, John Gordon. It brought to mind the brief time I had in Paradise and how youthful, healthy, and peaceful my father looked. Dad crossed over into His arms July 3, 2004. Yes, I'm one of those that look forward for the Second Coming! "Lord, come quickly".
"My paternal grandmother's first husband is still lying in rest on the USS Arizona. This year will be the first Christmas they've spent together in 70 years. What a blessing it is to know that we have the hope of reunions!" Amen to that, John Gordon. To those of you that chose to come here today, have a day filled with love and laughter, giving thanks to the infinite blessings in your own life.
Thank You
Thank you to all that have sacrificed for our country. We are free because of so many within our Armed Forces and I offer my thanks today~
