Mr. President

This was an article in the St. Petersburg Times newspaper. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How would you fix the economy?" One guy nailed it.

Dear Mr. President,
Patriotic retirement. There's about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them a $1 million severance apiece. This severance would come with these stipulations:
1) They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings. Unemployment fixed.
2) They buy a new American car. Forty million cars ordered. Auto industry fixed.
3) They either buy a house or pay off their existing mortgage. Housing crisis fixed.

Now, why does it have to be so complicated? Forget AIG and all the other companies wanting handouts. Give it to the people, let us help the economy. His answer sounds like a good idea to me; and, thank you Deborah Aldridge for sending this to me today~

okay, I would vote for this, but we need to lower the stipulation to ?? million people over 40 (so it would include me)...and they must have worked at least 20 years before being eligible for the million! :) LOL
