Bits & Pieces

Life can be complicated. Easy. Hard. Complex and, yet, there's always someone or something that causes me to smile. It's usually then that I remember the One that formed me also set the stars in the sky and knows me better than I know myself. We all have our hurts, pain, and memories we'd love to forget. But along with those are the tender, precious, beloved memories we pray not to ever let slip from our minds. This past year has brought many emotions, along with finding more about life, God, and the sifting of friends I've known for decades and some I've only met the last few years. Each special in a season of my life. Some have gone on. Some have stayed. Some have backed off for one reason or another. It's Life. And it's expected.

He never backs off. We do, but He doesn't. He's always there, waiting for us to call upon Him to praise Him, need Him, or just want to rest within His love. I am a very thankful child of a very loving King. His Spirit teaches me and helps me understand so that forgiveness comes easy. Life is good, as long as I'm closely aligned with Him. Aaaaannnddd, He knows just how much I love

SNOW! It snows very little where we live. (Did I say 'very'?) We see more ice. Maybe it will snow this year?! Probably NOT. So, with that, here some photos of past snows, sweet babies and memories from the heart ~

Oh, sweet 'laina. Barely three years old.
My princess.

A trip to Gatlinburg in February 2009. Snow, snow, snow!
The smile is genuine.
Snow!
And at The Park in March '09!
I was in heaven. Beautiful.
giggling over Nelson and John
Back in the 'burg, Fall 2010, looking for snow and finding it.
And blessed with another baby girl ~
sweet babygirl & her daddy
ElleBelle was headed toward her second birthday here with her Daddy.
Our Mississippi babies
We moved to the Coast in 2011, so there was sand.
Not snow. But we got some Winter loving.
They got snow and so did Gulf Shores! What excitement!
The beaches were covered with snow and ice.
It was also the first time I learned that hearing pinetree limbs cracking
and falling off the trees was NOT fun! It meant clean up.
We were blessed with a new grandson.
Sweet Owen celebrated his first birthday that Spring.
Snow and a first birthday within months of each other.
Another decade for me this year
and the hopes that it WILL snow before 2016.
It does NOT look like it'll happen, but one can hope!

Have an awesome week, snow or no snow!!

Autumn Is A'Comin'

One of my favorite seasons~
There's really nothing I don't love about it.
When that first crisp cool breeze crosses my face
My whole being takes a deep breath
And whispers, "It's coming! Fall."
Below are two outdoor ways to decorate an entry~
Either one will be easy & help usher in this colorful season.

Happy Birthday, Leslie!

2007 ~ Christmas in Prattville
and Miss Marley getting a treat!
Dec 31 2011 ~ your sisters, family and friends
gather for your wedding to Heath,
and we rejoice with you and answered prayers
Once more we gather with you,
for the birth of Owen Heath!
What a whirlwind 18 months.
Fall in love.
Marry.
Build a home.
Get pregnant.
Owen's birth.
When He blesses, he truly pours them out.
Happy Birthday, to our Leslie Dian.
We love you so very much.

Two Sweet Babies ~

This baby girl is mine and when I was told this was her profile photo tonight, the tears sprang to my eyes. She's grown up so quickly and is a beautiful God-filled young mother and wife. I'm so proud of her and will love her forever and a day ~
This blonde baby belongs to another. She has a birthday tomorrow! Happy Birthday, Cinderella. You are a precious child of a King! The same hands that formed you and our Jenny formed the moon and the stars. What an awesome thought. I pray that your whole weekend is filled with lots of giggles.

Birthday Flashback ~

I thought it would be fun to have a Birthday Flashback. It really is true, that one feels ten years younger on the inside than the mirror shows on the outside. Life is fleeting, and I savour each and every day. With three dearly loved daughters, and three men sent from God to marry them, they've given us six precious and adorable grandbabies, with number six to be born in just a matter of weeks. God is so good and I fall at His feet with love and adoration. So here you go, Birthday Flashback to 2009!

A Guy, A Gal, and A Rule

It was the 100th Day of School at FPK. And also Pajama Day in Noah's classroom. Great job, Noah! Your time at this school changed your life, and we will forever be thankful for not only the opportunity, but the blessings of those teaching and loving you.
It was Princess/Prince Party Day in Elle's classroom for the 100th Day. I have to congratulate Jenny on the Snow White dress. She made this for Elle! We all love FPK and pray for those that guide and teach these little ones. So there's my sweet guy and gal ~
My grandmother, Josephine Bass Yarbrough, was a retired teacher that didn't stop teaching when she left the building. Along with other grammar rules, this one has stuck in my mind forever! You know, the American language has got to be the most difficult to teach.
I love this photo! Jenny's happy and relaxed after putting together a precious birthday party for Noah (Camp Noah); Noah is excited and obviously tickled with the birthday party and goodies; and Elle is having a blast being the little sister and knowing she's in a photo! Click on Camp Noah above to be directed to Jenny's blog and see more neat photos of how she and Brandon put Camp Noah together for a troop of guys and gals. Happy 6th Birthday, No!

Happy Birthday, Noah ~

We fell in love easily.
"I hold you, Nan".
And I did.
How my heart misses those words.
A bit shy, loves his parents and big brother;
a homebody that giggles. A lot.
A sister came along and he became
a big brother himself!
He does well with the role.
Began karate and preschool,
and that shyness became no so anymore.
He and John are buddies.
They love to snuggle and watch
silly shows on TV.
Oh, how we love our Noah.
Six years old today.
Thanksgiving, as matter of fact.
A true Thanksgiving blessing.
May your years be many,
your laughter long and your fears few.
You have a large support of family & friends
that love you, Noah. You'll always have
someone to turn to, to confide in, to giggle with,
and to love and be loved. Happy Birthday.
We love you very much.

Hurricanes, Hugs, & Home

Well, let's get Hurricane Isaac out of the way. We are under Hurricane Warning now, with voluntary evacuation. At this time, The Hood and I have every intention of staying home and preparing for several days with no electricity. I would love to think he would allow me to go down to the beach, that isn't barricaded to the public, and take some photos but I know the man well enough that he'd physically hold me down before he'd let me do that. I love storms. I mean I really love storms. And hey! This is our first hurricane since moving here! This photo I took this afternoon from the 2nd floor porch of a local church. I had gone for a Beth Moore study only to find that they were sandbagging and taping up windows. So I wandered around and made some new friends. "To everything there is a season" ~
Prayerfully, our beaches will look just this pristine by next weekend. Maybe we'll have seaweed litter and a few more Man 'O Wars and jellyfish pushed this way, but I can deal with that. Everything in the gulf has teeth. Or a barb. So I only go in for one reason, and just far enough for that. If there's a restroom close by, I don't go in the water at all. 'Jaws' did it for me, although I did watch all 98 sequels of it and loved everyone of them. However, I swim in a pool. Not oceans or gulfs, nor rivers or lakes. If I cannot see what's under my butt bottom, I don't get in. Just don't. Moving on! Please pray that Isaac fizzles out and doesn't even do more than give us all some rain. No lost lives, no severe damage. LA has seen enough, as has Mississippi. I'm praying that God just lets Isaac die.
On the home front, sweet Elle wasn't able to begin school this past week with her brothers due to being sick. She had her dress, shoes, and NEW backpack and lunch box all set out with the gift for her teacher. Then the night before, fever set in and she was one sick little girl for several days. Doctor suggested she stay home this week and begin the following week. She will go into K3 and this Nan is wondering when she grew up. It's bad enough to know our oldest baby is in the 4th grade this year. At what point do I cease calling them babies? I've decided I'll think about it later. Not now. And not only did Elle NOT get to go to school, her brother Noah got to go with a cast on his arm.
He's handling it just fine. Fractured his elbow and hopefully won't have to have the cast much longer. This was the first day of school. Ian's giving baby girl a hug since she can't go. She looks happy to be standing with them though {smile font} I'm looking forward to seeing photos tomorrow of Miss Elle going to school for her first day! She and Noah attend the same school and I like that. Ian is attending a new school this year and is loving it. Even began riding the bus home last week. Jenny said he gets home before she would were she to go through car pick up.
Happy Birthday, sweet Austin! 9 years old. No, no,no, slow down. It would make Nan so much happier. Saturday he and Alaina, below, were involved in soccer games all day long. I think Alaina made four goals during one of her games. She and Austin love their sports!
Below is my favorite way to read a book {wink font} The book in question was 'Tick Tock' by James Patterson and the ice cream is Neapolitan with Kix cereal thrown in for crunch. Oh yum. Buuut, I had to cease buying the ice cream. You know that thing called a scale? Yeah, I have one. Nasty thing.
One of my favorite vignettes in our home. And it's in my kitchen window. The photo was taken after Jenny and Brandon's wedding, the shells from our beaches, and John bought the air succulent (is that what they're called?) at our favorite shop. I feel happy deep inside each time I'm at the sink.
The following photos? They made me laugh. Out loud!! So you get to see them, too. Because when I put them on here for you, I get to see them each time I come here and that'll make me laugh once more. Laughter. Good for the soul and all those around you. Have a safe week. A God filled week with much love and laughter! Remember, pray that Isaac fizzles out! Blessings ~

Did you find one that made you giggle? Or laugh out loud? I love the weather one, but my fav of these four? The one about the beaters!!! I can just picture trying to grab some batter with a spinning beater and getting it all over your face. Slays me every time I read it. Okay, so this is it. Really. The End. I'll update and let you know how tame, or not, Isaac was where we live. Again, blessings!
