to whimsy,

I have several I plan to use this season! Merry Christmas ~

Winter White, Winter Quiet

within this photograph of these old books
are the colors of a season, not just any season
the season that grabs my heart and stills it
winter ~ the soft quiet days of winter
i love winter
i love its soft whites
muted neutrals
and snowy dreams
who knew there were so many shades of white
wintery hues, fading brilliance, ghosts of what was
gardens, animals, people hibernate
in a state of rest, to recreate, rejuvenate
it's the time for cuddling, a time for snuggling
hot chocolate and warm thick socks
fuzzy throws, firelight, and
the sound of pages being turned, low conversation
christmas is just its beginning
a season of joyful delight
remembered childhood memories~
times that bring a softness to the eyes
oh, winter, my friend
i search for you all year
only to wake up one morning
and find frosty droplets on my window
there you are
and my soul settles in
for reflection, quietness
and i rejoice in your arrival

When the Frost Is On the Punkin'

When da frost is on the punkin & da fodder's in the shock,
And you hear the kyouck & gobble of the struttin' turkey-cock
And the clackin’ of the guineys, & the cluckin’ of the hens,
And the rooster’s hallylooyer as he tiptoes on the fence;
O, it’s then’s the times a feller is a-feelin’ at his best,
With the risin’ sun to greet him from a night of peaceful rest,
As he leaves the house, bareheaded, & goes to feed the stock,
When da frost is on the punkin & da fodder’s in the shock.

They’s something kindo’ harty-like about the atmusfere
When the heat of summer’s over & the coolin’ fall is here
Course we miss the flowers, & the blossums on the trees,
The mumble of the hummin’ birds & buzzin’ of the bees;
The air’s so appetizin’ & the landscape thru the haze
Of a crisp & sunny morning of the airly autumn days
Is a pictur’ that no painter has the colorin’ to mock
When da frost is on the punkin & da fodder’s in the shock.

The husky, rusty russel of the tossels of the corn,
The raspin’ of the tangled leaves, as golden as the morn;
The stubble in the furries, kinda’ lonesome-like, but still
A-preachin’ sermuns to us of the barns they growed to fill;
The strawstack in the medder, & the reaper in the shed;
The hosses in theyr stalls below, the clover over-head
O, it sets my hart a-clickin’ like the tickin’ of a clock,
When da frost is on the punkin & da fodder’s in the shock!

Then your apples all is gethered, & the ones a feller keeps
Is poured around the celler-floor in red & yeller heaps;
Your cider-makin’s over, & your wimmen folk is through
With their mince & apple-butter, &
 theyr souse and saussage, too
I don’t know how to tell it, but ef sich a thing could be
As the Angels wantin’ boardin’, & they’d call around on me
I’d want to ’commodate ’em, all the whole-indurin’ flock
When frost is on the punkin & da fodder’s in the shock!

Home For Sale In Madison, GA ~

Julia's done it once more. Oh, how my heart fluttered when I saw the frontal photo of this home for sale in Madison GA. Visit Julia's daily fascinating blog to see it and the rest of the photos! Look at this part of one of the outside porches. Wicker. Wicker. Wicker! I'm in love.
Inside, this would be the foyer as I would want it to be when I moved in. Redecorated and up to date but still maintaining that vintage charm. Love it. Yeah, I do.
Double chandies!!! With greenware dishes! I seriously cannot find a thing I don't love about this kitchen. Of course, one cannot see everything, but what my eyes can't see, my heart does. And it likes what it sees. Watching my grandbabies grow up here as they visit would be such fun.
And to add more flavor to the mix, look at the various covered porches on the back! Pick one and have a seat with a good novel, an icy glass of sweetened tea with lemon wedges (no mint for me, thank you), and wile away the morning. Or the afternoon. Or the day! Going inside only to return with a yummy sandwich and fruit. Yeah. Oh yeah, I could so live here. Could you?! You'll find these and much more over at Julia's. If I were you, I'd already be on my way. Ciao ~

Nelson Mandela

"I always knew that deep down in every human heart, there is mercy and generosity. No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion.  People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite."

Raymond's Reminiscings~A New Blog

I encourage all of you to follow along as we read of the humorous and not so humorous things that occur within a congregation. We've all been there {wink font}. We have know Raymond and his precious wife, Virginia, for many many years and dearly love them both. He has other writings that you'll discover on the right hand bar pertaining to spiritual guiding and a few that hunters will surely enjoy. Again, do yourself a favor and explore the world of the Elliott's for a bit. It's a good thing.

Wowzer ~ I Think I Can Breath Now

Sweet Owen wasn't sure what all the hooping and hollering was about. He was a real trooper, though. Keeping us entertained while we tried to look past the moves Texas A&M were making against the Tide. Johnny Football is quick. And versatile. And hard to stop.
Then as the time ran out, we all began to breath again!
And laugh at the do rag his mommy made for him!
And he loved that we loved laughing at him!
What a ham for attention.
What hams we are to get a giggle out of him!
Roll Tide Roll! WhooHoo!!

Where Is the Justice?

Remember the terror. Remember the people-filled buildings. Planes.

Remember these four faces.
There has been no justice for them.
Sons. Brothers. Fathers.
Demand justice for them.
Remember them.

September 11

Remember.
Pray.
Pray fervently.
It happens this week.
We don't need another ribbon for this day.

It's Grand to Be a Nan ~

to my sweet friends that know how it feels
to be head over heels with your baby's babies.

Do Yourself a Favor ~

and go look at this home that Julia is highlighting today. I lost my heart. The renovations and decor is amazing. I know it's staged to show, but I bet it didn't look much different than what you'll see. Personal photos are always put up and yeah, there's always some clutter somewhere. I love the colors used on the walls and the children's bedrooms, along with one of the guest baths melted me. Okay, I'll hush and you head over to check out Capitol Hill Classic 1431 E Ward Seattle, WA. Gorgeous.

Change of Season

I love Fall and Winter ~ they are easily my favorites.
Maybe, though, it's because of the lushness of Spring
and the heat and brightness of Summer
is what makes Fall with it's fading
and Winter with it's stillness
such a joy.
Here's a FREE printable, courtesy of Pinterest!
and below, an idea for your quiet area ~
May this time of year be filled with moments of solitude, reflection, and peace. Now that school terms are into session and routines are being reset and schedules readjusted, I pray you can find some time for yourself. To read, to pray and ponder how blessed you are - in whatever state you are, you are blessed - and to begin the joyous journey to the season of Fall. Winter and her beauty won't be far behind.

Wishing you many moments of laughter and love ~

So . . . . .

there is a lot to be learned. First games can be eye openers.

I bet after Coach Saban and his coaches get through with practices and replay discussions, the Tide will play better two weeks from now. Not to mention, why should Saban show all the plays if he didn't have to {grin font}. Watch out, Johnny Football. Your attitude just might take a beatin'. In fact, I know it will. Roll Tide!

... and the Tide Rolls Tonight!

and we can't wait!
Let's go, Bama!
UPDATE: A reader alerted me to the fact that the logo showing for VA Tech is NOT their logo. And she is correct!! Below is the photo from Google and apparently someone has photoshopped it! I exchanged this one with the one above. Thank you for alerting me to this!

Getting Ready to Roll!

I am a SEC fan. Love love LOVE the SEC Conference.
However, when it comes to Denny Chimes
and the University of Alabama
I'm about as partial as they come.
It begins this Saturday at 4:30 CDT on ESPN.
Against Virginia Tech under the Georgia Dome.
I.Can't.Wait.

Here are a few, of the thousands, of items you can find on Pinterest. I have a board, of course! And I belong to a group that maintains a board for the Tide! The season begins this Thursday night with the South Carolina Gamecocks looking for a win over North Carolina Tarheels.
The Campus, with Denny Chimes in the background.
(I've always loved college towns. There's such a unity.)
Found this on Pinterest & thought it vintage & just neat.
And who doesn't love Subway art!
A nice printable!
I"m telling you.
You want anything with the Crimson Tide?
You get it early. Like 3-6 months before August!
I have one of these!! Too.Cute!
But unless she posts more this season, they sold out quick.
Seriously, parents registering for a new baby and the showers to follow will put little booties and adorable onesies on their list of necessary items at the boutiques and shoppes. Those that wait until July or August to come in, only get "I'm sorry. We're out. You need to try one of the larger athletic stores."
Click here to read a post I wrote upon learning more on how the team trains, a few of their traditions, and feelings that course through the veins of the Crimson Tide players. Enjoy!
And of course, it would not be complete
without a photo of our ElleBelle,
dressed and ready for an Alabama football game.
(And to brag? Her mommy made the outfit! Roll Tide!!)
