Autumn Is A'Comin'

One of my favorite seasons~
There's really nothing I don't love about it.
When that first crisp cool breeze crosses my face
My whole being takes a deep breath
And whispers, "It's coming! Fall."
Below are two outdoor ways to decorate an entry~
Either one will be easy & help usher in this colorful season.

Easily Made ~ Smiles Galore

You can make your drawer or find an old one in a flea market ~ a sewing maching drawer! New, or original handle; distress it; and arrange your clear bottles with sweet blossoms for a simple and adorable look. Cozy home ~
Shadowbox. Heart memories of a time at the coast.
How colorful and cute is this?! Cheap sandals with scraps of ribbon tied on! Yeah, I could do this and if I can, I know you can {wink font}.
Monogram a Mason jar with glitter; simple twine tie; tulips or your favorite flower. Too cute, too simple!
Last but not least from Pinterest, a silk green wreath with silk hydrangeas cut off  close to the flower and hot glued to the wreath. Attach a ribbon and voila! {Tip: If your door faces the West, beware that the sun will melt your hotglue. A fact I found out the hard way recently. MESSY!}

Doors, Portals to Lives

 i love doors
who lives here
what are their dreams
are they happy

Seven generations walked through your door,
Which stood so strong & always welcomed in.
You said goodbye when boys headed to war,
Your kitchen always busy as a bee.

Two soldiers lost to battles they can't win.
With canning, baking apple crumble cake
The table decked with riches to partake.
Stone hearth, a place for warmth and drink some tea.

The living room a place to sit and chat,
With pictures hanging for one hundred years.
With bassinet where ev'ry child did lie.
A chair still sits where ancestors once sat.

This room for laughter and at times for tears.
Your nursery where many babies grew,
The paint would change from pink to blue.
You watched the aging gently rock.

A place where time would always quickly fly.
The floors within have each child's first walk,
Their worn out wood drowned many times with stain.
Your children now all scattered far and wide.

You've heard and felt the tapping of a cane.
I stand and listen in your sacred halls
And feel that you're a part of everyone.
Each breath we took embedded in your walls,

Old house of stone your warmth embraces me,
The house my children grew up in.
You still stand proud for all the to see,
The thoughts of you, sweet memories.

looks like someone is home
and waiting for someone else to get home

It's Spring!

Ah, rebirth. Budding limbs
smell of Spring on the wind
Just some images to get you ready
Easy to duplicate
Sure to delight ~
Happy Spring
Look around
and be thankful ~

Guess I'm Not the Only One

From the looks of the blogs I follow, I'm not the only one that seems to not be taking the time to update and keep current my blog. It first began as a means to document family news, then with the way it expanded I began showcasing blogs I visited and thought you may enjoy as well!

Then I discovered Pinterest. Oh.My. Pinterest. If you haven't checked it out yet or begun your own boards, it's a new and interesting place to share and find information on everything. EVERYTHING!

I'm not sure how many boards I presently have but I love and learn from each and every pin placed on a board! Talk about adding to my Bucket List!! Here's a few recent pins ~

This is found on the board 'Adorable Abodes'.
I could SO live here, in England. On the water.
'Amazing Architecture'
And there are some awesome examples!
The one above is on the National Register
of Historic Places. It's a round barn!
'Beauty of Birds'
God didn't have to make so many,
with such different colorings,
and amazing features.
But He did. For us.
'Breads & Appetizers'
I love food. I hate weight gain.
But I love food.
And I love this recipe!
'Free Fonts'
Yep. They're free.
I just can't understand how to
download them. But bet you can.

Go visit. And in the meantime,
I'll try to do a better job of
keeping my blog up with fun sites
and neat home decor ideas!

Getting Ready to Roll!

I am a SEC fan. Love love LOVE the SEC Conference.
However, when it comes to Denny Chimes
and the University of Alabama
I'm about as partial as they come.
It begins this Saturday at 4:30 CDT on ESPN.
Against Virginia Tech under the Georgia Dome.
I.Can't.Wait.

Here are a few, of the thousands, of items you can find on Pinterest. I have a board, of course! And I belong to a group that maintains a board for the Tide! The season begins this Thursday night with the South Carolina Gamecocks looking for a win over North Carolina Tarheels.
The Campus, with Denny Chimes in the background.
(I've always loved college towns. There's such a unity.)
Found this on Pinterest & thought it vintage & just neat.
And who doesn't love Subway art!
A nice printable!
I"m telling you.
You want anything with the Crimson Tide?
You get it early. Like 3-6 months before August!
I have one of these!! Too.Cute!
But unless she posts more this season, they sold out quick.
Seriously, parents registering for a new baby and the showers to follow will put little booties and adorable onesies on their list of necessary items at the boutiques and shoppes. Those that wait until July or August to come in, only get "I'm sorry. We're out. You need to try one of the larger athletic stores."
Click here to read a post I wrote upon learning more on how the team trains, a few of their traditions, and feelings that course through the veins of the Crimson Tide players. Enjoy!
And of course, it would not be complete
without a photo of our ElleBelle,
dressed and ready for an Alabama football game.
(And to brag? Her mommy made the outfit! Roll Tide!!)

Spring On Pinterest

I have a Spring board on Pinterest and just looking at it this afternoon made me feel so smiley inside. The above idea is so easy to replicate and too cute!! Boots from Target, happy silk flowers on sale at Michael's! Bingo, instant entry welcome.
Oh yes, cake. Yum! Here's the link for this photo! This is a new blog to me and I want to go back and look through it, maybe become a follower. This is a cute Easter cake!
And use split peas which are cheaper than coffee beans and easier to use than seashells, and STILL have that Spring look. These appear to be vases glued to candlesticks, don't they!
Just right for our front door or the door to the covered porch. I intend to make this one. It's too easy. And too cute! Happy upcoming Spring, everyone!

I Love Pinterest

Actually, I'm a Pinterest Addict. I love love love it. For instance, I could easily do this in my master! Faux walls are easy. Finding a gate isn't hard. But you get what I'm saying. I love the ideas on Pinterest. And then there are other things!
This one made me realize I am made of thousands that lived and loved and died. I love the feeling that reading this gave me. A very warm and good feeling.
Who doesn't love cupcakes! I have a board for just them. It's called 'Cuppie Cakes' and I see myself, at some point, making some of them. One I posted today is for Blue Velvet Cupcakes. I love Red Velvet! So I'm thinking Blue Velvet will just as good. (Wonder if it'll stain the teeth?!) Hmmm, might rethink this one.
I also have a 'Favorite Blog' board. Guess who's my favorite {wink font} and Jenny's site is, of course, my second! But you'll find others that are on home decor, cooking, and if you search Pinterest you can find boards on pretty much everything.
There are lots and lots of funny things to see. This is one I found this afternoon that made me laugh out loud. Waldo. All that's needed is that striped hat.
This one? Well, this one made me catch my breath. We've all been here. Walking a path that know one knows we're on, or maybe they know but they don't know how to comfort or what to say? Our Lord knows. And it's His comfort and merciful grace that gets us through the storms. This one? It's my favorite today. And it'll stick with me for awhile. Do you Pinterest?

A New Blog, A New Idea!

You'll find this adorable blog HERE! I read about it on Pinterest and it's real cute. In fact, I've saved it in order to go back to it when I publish this and look through it a bit more. It seems as if she takes the ideas from Pinterest that she likes in way of clothing and then puts it together and photographs herself! I, myself, have lots and lots of clothing ideas and I have used maybe 1/4 or those ideas. But after a while, I fall back into wearing the same items, simply because they're at the front of the line. A friend of mine puts hers at the back so she knows it's been worn. That's a great idea, too! Go to Pinterest Told Me To . . . and tell me what you think. I heart comments!
These are too cute for Valentine's Day! She made one for each of her babies. I love Project Maddox for two reasons. One, she has some really neat ideas. Two, she's our baby daughter {big smile font}.  She shows you how she put these together for only $2 each. Neat way to decorate all month long! Then leave nice notes for a job well done.

It's almost the end of January. Wowzer. Time is flying already this year. Until ~

I Love Fall ~

I love Fall. And Winter. Always have. Always will.
You can have your Summer!
Back to the subject {grin font}
Look how easy-peasy this idea is!
Three items from the grocery store!
One hurricane!
A bit of twine & a candle (on sale, of course)
Yeah, I'm doing this next week.
This grabbed my heartstrings. Hard.
I want to do this SO badly.
Just not sure I can recreate it.
I'm not that good with floral items.
I try. And I fool some of the people.
But not all of them.
I have the urn already.
Walmart and Target have the fake pumpkins.
I have the gold paint. And stencil!
Need a bit more silk stuff.
Okay, so I'll try this AND
let you know how it goes.
{crossmyfingers font}
I'm writing while watching the Tide and Mizzou.
That's hard. I love the Crimson Tide. Okay,
I love everything about this.
So much so, that at 2 am I was up
painting a primer on a lamp that was too gold.
I have all the elements EXCEPT a husk wreath.
Maybe Old Time Pottery will?
I can pick up an old frame
at the many flea markets here.
The ribbon is easy to find now.
As is the iron piece.
So, IF I can find a wreath of husk,
I'll do this project as well.
Stay tuned!

Have Pine Cones?

I'll admit these came from Pinterest. If one of these is your photograph, please don't be upset. Leave me a comment and I'll edit, giving you the credit! Pinterest makes it easy to pin a photo without clicking to to see if there's actually a recipe with that yummy brownie recipe. So, let's proceed!
Our yard has pine trees. Which means there are cones. Bugs like pine trees, so I purchase bags of pine cones at Hobby Lobby, already cleaned and bug free. However, you can wash and dry them.

Not long ago I was invited to join Pinterest. Oh.my.pine.cones. There are oodles of ways to decorate with these aggravating-to-those-who-have-to-pick-them-up thingies! Spring and Summer seem to be cone-less ~ BUT I bet someone will come up with an idea! And I'll pin it!

Enjoy the photographs and here's hoping you gather some ideas to use for your Fall decor!
and lastly, a topiary~(LOVE those bitty ones!)
To you and yours, Happy Fall Y'all!
