A grim forecast of rain didn't stop an estimated 84,050 Crimson Tide fans from attending today's practice game at Bryant-Denny Stadium! ESPN brought it to national television and Tuscaloosa rocked once more as another record was set. Today's attendance was the second highest A-Day game in school history, and the second largest crowd to witness a spring game at any SEC school. The first was the 92,138+ fans, that arrived in 2007 at Tuscaloosa, with many being turned away at the gate. Last years game drew 78,200, the third largest crowd at any SEC school. {John wanted to be there badly, but a fishing tournament and work put a stop to those plans. I was downtown in the shoppe all day, but kept informed with customers wearing the colors and listening to newscasts.} Previous best is believed to be Tennessee's 73,000 in 1986 and we nearly doubled Florida's 47,5000 in 2007. Today's practice game brings an end to Spring Practice and we wait now for the games to begin!
There's something about football that stirs my blood. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the guy I loved in high school was a football player and I was a cheerleader, or the fact that I married a guy that was his high school's quarterback and our main rival. I will always remember Marbury High School Friday night games and Saturday's Alabama and Auburn college games. It just doesn't get any better ~
