Oh.MY.Stars!!! I am horrified at an advertisement on The Learning Channel!! Here I am watching Jon and Kate, Plus 8 and they broadcast a new series, and it is titled Toddlers & Tiaras! I was appalled to see how these little, little ones were being primped, preened, and taught to flaunt. I tried going to the TLC site online and couldn't find anything except this article from The Abilene newspaper. I am sure as the date for the series to begin, there will be a more developed site. Upon reading some of the comments left by others, I am not the only one feeling this is a tragedy in the making. I would really like to know your thoughts on this series. If you feel differently, I would appreciate you giving me your reasons. I promise to read/listen with an open mind. Melissa, you are so great with words and would love to see what you come up with! Anyway, just needed to vent and share~

It's disgusting! I feel so sorry for these kids.
Teale and I have watched specials on things like this before. It rides all over me and I am fuming by the time it is over. Most of the kids don't even want to be doing it and express as much. And have you seen some of the gifts they give these "kids" for winning? New Cars? Are you kidding? What does a 4 or 5 year old need with a car. I promise you will never see little MoJo doing anything like this.
I totally agree with you!!!! I participated in pageants in my younger days because it was "fun" and I got to spend time with my friends. It was never really about who was "prettier" to us. But now, it is disgusting! I hope AK doesn't want to participate. It is even that way now with cheerleading. errrrrrrr. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she will like soccer or something like that. I've even judged pageants before and left very disturbed at the fact parents would let their children dress and act like that. I guess society doesn't share the mentality that we have.
